Islamists kill pastor and four other Christians in Nigeria

On August 28 and 29, 2026, a series of attacks on Christians took place in Nigeria’s Plateau State, leaving five people dead, including a Protestant pastor. Another clergyman was abducted, Daily Post reports.
Islamists stopped a passenger minibus and forcibly abducted two pastors. One of them was later found murdered near the site of the abduction. The fate of the second clergyman remains unknown, although the kidnappers have contacted his family.
That same night, armed militants attacked several other Christian communities. People were killed and wounded, and homes were set on fire. A total of five attacks took place in a single night, with Christians among the victims.
Observers link the violence to the continuing attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt. Christians in the region are regularly subjected to killings, kidnappings and attacks by armed Islamist groups, while the issue of protecting their lives and their right to freely practice their faith remains extremely acute.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Islamists killed 24 Christians in Nigeria during an overnight attack on a community.
