Marynivka Protection Monastery monks extinguish fire in neighboring village

The brotherhood of the Protection Monastery for Men in Marynivka, Odesa Eparchy, responded to a fire in the neighboring village of Severynivka with the monastery’s own fire truck, coming to the aid of local residents. The Odesa Eparchy reported the incident.
On the evening of September 6, 2026, the monastery’s abbot, Archimandrite Meletiy (Yakubyn), received a call from a State Emergency Service dispatcher about an emergency. An outbuilding attached to a home in Severynivka, where residents stored hay, had caught fire.
Because the nearest State Emergency Service unit was responding to another call at the time, the monks immediately headed to the scene in their fire truck and began fighting the blaze themselves. The 19th Fire and Rescue Unit from the village of Ivanivka later arrived. Together, they completely extinguished the fire and saved the residents’ property from destruction.
The fire truck purchased for the monastery has helped residents of nearby communities on more than one occasion. The eparchy expressed its sincere gratitude to everyone who took part in fighting the fire.
As the UOJ reported, firefighters in Ternopil Region earlier saved an 18th-century church from a fire.
