Epifaniy Dumenko sharply criticized the ROC's procession in Moscow, reporrs the OCU press service.
"Poisoned by the false doctrine of the 'Russian world,' thousands of people marched through Moscow yesterday, carrying the relics of Prince Dimitry Donskoy and red flags. On these red banners, instead of the bloody Bolshevik and Nazi symbols of the last century, they inserted an image of Christ, displaying blasphemy and shamelessness," said the OCU head, apparently referring to banners bearing the image of the Savior Not Made by Hands.
He compared the ROC's procession participants to Nazis and Communists, who, "parodying and desecrating church processions, held their own marches under bloody flags and with images of their leaders, as if they were icons."
"And in our time, mockery and desecration of sacred objects are being committed not by atheists, but by those who wear church vestments and consider themselves Orthodox Christians," said Serhiy Dumenko.
Speaking of Dimitry Donskoy, the head of the OCU stated that the ROC "stirred the bones of the prince proclaimed a saint almost four decades ago, yet never truly venerated him as one."
He criticized the saint, claiming that he had fled Moscow, acknowledging the superiority of the khan who destroyed his capital.
Dumenko contrasted the Russian Church with his own structure, emphasizing that the OCU prays not to Dimitry Donskoy but to "true servants of God, glorified by the Lord through miracles and venerated since ancient times."
As the UOJ reported, in Lutsk the OCU held a procession in honor of the 'great prophet' Taras Shevchenko.
