Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukraine’s Jewish community and Jews around the world on Rosh Hashanah.
The head of state noted the contribution of everyone celebrating the holiday while defending the lives, freedom, and security of others. He described the beginning of the new year as a time of renewed hope and faith in a better future.
“I congratulate the Jewish community of Ukraine and everyone around the world celebrating Rosh Hashanah... I wish you peace, goodness, and harmony. The beginning of a new year is always a time for new hopes and faith in a better future.”
In his message, Zelensky expressed hope that the new year would bring “a lasting peace, more light, humanity, and goodness, which always triumphs over evil.”
The president concluded his greeting with the traditional Jewish wish for a sweet and happy new year: “Shanah tovah u’metukah!”
As previously reported by the UOJ, Ukraine’s chief rabbi thanked Zelensky for the law against antisemitism.
