Ukraine’s Ambassador to Finland Mykhailo Vydoinyk met with OCU cleric Serhii Berezhnyi to discuss pastoral care for Ukrainian refugees, humanitarian assistance, and cooperation with the Finnish Orthodox Church.
During the meeting in Helsinki, the two discussed a wide range of issues related to supporting Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave the country. In particular, they addressed expanding ties with the Nordic countries, providing pastoral care for the local Ukrainian community, as well as “Russian information influence” and ways to counter it.
The two also devoted considerable attention to cooperation with religious organizations in Europe. The ambassador and the OCU cleric discussed joint efforts with the Finnish Orthodox Church and other organizations aimed at “strengthening support for Ukraine.”
The diplomat described the OCU cleric’s visit to Finland as an important event intended to “convey to Finnish partners the truth about the Russian Orthodox Church’s propaganda activities” and provide spiritual support to the local Ukrainian community. Vydoinyk thanked the cleric for these efforts.
As the UOJ reported, Epifaniy Dumenko discussed “hostile influence in the religious sphere” with Kyiv authorities.
