Activist: UOC's lawyers defend traitors

Activist and founder of the NGO "Spadok Voli" Maryna Koval accused lawyers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of defending traitors on Kyiv FM.
She told journalist Bohdan Butkevych that she brought about 50 activists to one of the hearings and criticized UOC's lawyers for demanding that the law be observed.
"They hide behind their bar certificates and say: 'This is pressure on a lawyer. You have no right to say such things, because we are lawyers, we are protected by law, and you may face criminal liability'," she complained.
According to her, "the lawyers are actually defending traitors. Their cases involve state treason, justification of aggression, and so on and so forth."
Butkevych asked who exactly is defending the UOC. Koval named a lawyer by the surname Chekman and accused him of having joint photos with the abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavlo.
Previously, the UOJ reported that, according to journalist Butkevych, he would «gladly become an executioner for the scum from the UOC».
