As a result of yet another shelling on October 16, 2026, the Church of the Lord's Ascension in the town of Zolochiv was damaged, reports the Kharkiv Eparchy.
The blast wave shattered the windows in the church building and its dome, scattering glass fragments across the interior windowsills. People were on the church grounds at the time of the shelling, but no one was injured.
Restoration work is currently under way at the site, and the broken window openings are being covered with plywood boards. The ruling archpastor expressed his sincere condolences to the rector and parishioners of the church in connection with the damage to the shrine.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that a UOC church of the Nativity of John the Baptist was damaged in Kharkiv during shelling.
