The Embassy of Ukraine in Israel criticized Trump's initiative to involve the Jerusalem Patriarch as a mediator to end the war.

The Primate of the Jerusalem Church said that US President Donald Trump, in the Oval Office, supported his initiative to take on a mediating role.

"Religious leaders bear a spiritual and moral responsibility to promote peace, and we approach diplomacy as humble servants of those who suffer," the Patriarch of Jerusalem stressed.

The First Hierarch added that he sees it as his duty to keep channels of communication open, to convey the hopes of ordinary people to the leaders of states, and to facilitate dialogue.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Bulgarian Primate supported Patriarch Theophilos' initiative on Ukraine.
