Bashuky Village Church Seized in a Brigand Way
At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, Archangel Mikhail Church in Bashuky village, Kremenetsky district, Ternopil region, was broken into.
The unknown cut locks on the doors and broke open them for followers of the so-called Kyiv Patriarchate. The dissenters went into the church and desecrated it, simulating the service.
Having broken into the church, they feel complete masters their - they seized the building and all the church property: the icons, liturgical objects and other things.
“The burglars and the dissenters were numerous. They acted arrogantly, so members of the canonical church community did not enter into a conflict situation with them”, says the lawyer, Oleg Denisov. “The Orthodox believers failed to enter the church. The resistance of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church community to property claims of «Kiev Patriarchate» has been lasting for a few months, as PravLife constantly informs its readers. During this time, the schematics, together with radicals, have made several attempts to seize the church by force and illegally re-register the church community under the jurisdiction of the UOC-KP.
The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church community has all the necessary documents for the church building. It is the owner of all the property therein.
“The police was immediately called to the place of a raider seizure, the church community submitted a petition about breaking the doors, occupying the building, disrupting the service and illegally possessing all the belonging: icons, liturgical objects and other things, as well as the breakdown of the service,” said Oleg Denisov, the lawyer.
