OCU ‘bishop’: President ordered airport closed to stop Phanar delegation
“Archbishop” Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea said Poroshenko had pressured the Greeks who arrived to prepare the “Unification Council.”
The Ukrainian president ordered an airport closed to prevent the Phanar delegation from leaving the country, according to Klyment Kushch, an “archbishop” of the newly created OCU, who spoke on the Marinad program after the “Unification Council.”
“The process of creating a united Orthodox Church was on the verge of collapse. After the Greek delegation visited the Presidential Administration, they wanted to leave Ukraine. And, as the president said, he gave the order to close the airport and not let a single plane take off,” the OCU “hierarch” said.
As a reminder, the “Unification Council” was held in Kyiv on December 15, with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko personally taking part. Following the gathering, the creation of a new church structure – the Orthodox Church of Ukraine – was announced. Epifaniy Dumenko, a “bishop” of the UOC-KP, was elected head of the OCU.
