Hostomel authorities hand UOC Intercession church over to OCU
At a meeting in a local club in Hostomel, held in the absence of UOC parishioners, local residents unanimously voted to transfer the Intercession Church to the OCU.
On July 3, 2022, in Hostomel, representatives of the local territorial community headed by the head of the military administration, having gathered in a club, transferred the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God to the OCU. This was reported by former People's Deputy from the Poroshenko bloc Vitaliy Kupriy on his Facebook page.
"I congratulate the residents of Hostomel on the decision by the religious community to move from the Moscow Patriarchate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine! At last, services will be held in Ukrainian at the church on Sviato-Pokrovska Street, they will forget who the adversary Kirill is, and increase the number of parishioners at the expense of true patriots of Ukraine," Kupriy wrote. He added that the decision was made unanimously. OCU supporter Dmytro Hurak on his Facebook reported that about 250 people attended the meeting.
Neither the priest of the UOC Pokrovsky church, Archpriest Petr Pavlenko, nor the believers came to the club. "Father Petr ignored this invitation and gathered a group of about 30 supporters near the church. The bells were rung as if war had begun," Hurak reported.
As the UOJ reported, OCU raiders, having sawed off the lock and forged documents, seized the church in Fastiv.
