Pope calls on Russian "brothers" to resume Black Sea grain deal
The head of the RCC called the Russian authorities "brothers" and urged them not to prevent Ukraine from exporting grain from its ports.
On July 30, 2023, during his Angelus message, Pope Francis called on the authorities of the Russian Federation not to obstruct the export of grain from Ukrainian seaports, reports Reuters. He referred to the leaders of the Russian state as "his brothers".
"I appeal to my brothers, the authorities of the Russian Federation, so that the Black Sea Grain Initiative can be resumed, and grain can be safely transported," said the Pope.
Earlier, Pope Francis mentioned that his thoughts are with the brethren of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
