SBU reports suspicion to UOC's outstaffed cleric in Cherkasy region
Father Borys Brodovsky faces up to 8 years in prison.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported suspicion against the outstaffed cleric of the UOC in the Cherkasy region, Archpriest Borys Brodovsky, accusing him of allegedly justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The agency announced this on its Telegram channel on March 6, 2024.
According to the SBU, the priest, as claimed by the agency, referred to the fighters of "Azov" as "Nazis" and justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation on his Facebook page.
Examples of Father Borys's posts are not provided. However, it is reported that during a search at the cleric's place of residence, prohibited symbols and a mobile phone from which he allegedly disseminated anti-Ukrainian propaganda were found. According to the SBU-initiated expertise, the facts of his criminal actions were allegedly confirmed.
Based on this evidence, the SBU informed Archpriest Borys Brodovsky of suspicion under Part 2 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The issue of applying a preventive measure to him is being resolved. The priest faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
As the UOJ reported, on March 5, SBU officers came with a search to Archpriest Borys Brodovsky allegedly because he had reposted videos on social networks justifying Russian aggression.
