Bishop of Romanian Church making a pilgrimage to shrines of UOC
During his visit to the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna diocese, the Romanian bishop assured that the hierarchs of his Church support the Primate of the UOC.
On May 25, the hierarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Bishop Benedict (Vesa) of Bistrița, arrived in Ukraine for a pilgrimage to the Pochaiv and Kyiv Lavras, as well as to other shrines of the UOC, reports the press service of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
The Romanian bishop began his pilgrimage from Chernivtsi. He is accompanied by Archpriest Dimitri Popescu, rector of the Moldovan-Romanian parish at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Vladyka Benedict visited the consistory and the St. Nicholas Church of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
During his conversation with the secretary of the eparchy, the Romanian hierarch touched upon the church situation in Ukraine. He noted that the bishops of the Romanian Church understand the problem of church schism in Ukraine and support His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
As reported, the hierarch of the Bulgarian Church, who arrived on a visit to Ukraine, called the UOC the only canonical Church in the country.
