The Serbian director stated that he made a film about "the real situations of people" who, despite being "under pressure", remain faithful to their faith, values and country.

The State Film Agency of Ukraine expressed concern over the screening of the documentary "People of Christ – Our Time", directed by Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica, in Serbia. The agency wrote about this on its Facebook page. The documentary, which focuses on the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian authorities, premiered in Belgrade, where Serbian Patriarch Porfirije spoke at its opening.

The agency believes that the film promotes a distorted interpretation of events related to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

According to the agency, such actions are an attempt to manipulate public opinion and justify pro-Russian narratives, which harms Ukraine and its national security. The State Film Agency has called on the international community to oppose such attempts at disinformation, which undermine unity and distort the truth about events in Ukraine amid ongoing aggression.

As reported by the UOJ, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra filed a police report against the head of the Reserve for inciting hatred.
