Tochytskyi and representatives of the OCU discussed countering Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine's national identity.
On October 3, 2024, Metropolitan Epifaniy Dumenko, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), held a meeting with Ukraine's Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications, Mykola Tochytskyi, reports the organization’s press service.
The spokesperson of the OCU, Yevstratiy Zoria, was also present at the meeting.
It was reported that the parties discussed countering the Russian aggressor’s attempts to destroy Ukraine’s national identity and preserving the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people.
“The continuation of fruitful cooperation between the state and the religious community to unite society during wartime was discussed,” noted the OCU.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the religious situation in Ukraine, including collaboration in fighting the ideology of the “Russian World” and the challenges it presents.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Zelensky confirmed that he had called upon the Ecumenical Patriarchate to grant the OCU patriarchal status.
