Vatican on meeting with Zelensky: Ukraine’s religious situation discussed
The war and the humanitarian situation in the country, as well as ways to bring it to an end, were discussed.
On October 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin after his conversation with Pope Francis. According to the Vatican News website, they specifically addressed several issues regarding the religious situation in Ukraine.
Parolin was accompanied by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
"The talks in the Secretariat of State focused on the state of the war and the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, as well as on ways that could bring it to an end and lead to a just and stable peace in the country. In addition, a number of issues concerning religious life in the country were discussed," stated the Vatican press service.
As reported by the UOJ, Zelensky said what the main topic of discussion with the Pope was for him.
