The cathedral's accounting office was ransacked, and the money was stolen.

On October 17, the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy was seized by unidentified individuals in camouflage uniforms on their second attempt. After the first assault, believers managed to push the intruders out, but later discovered that the cathedral had been looted.

The intruders ransacked the accounting office, stole documents, and computer equipment. According to representatives of the cathedral, the following items were stolen from the temple:

  • $60,000 and 80,000 UAH, which parishioners had collected for a new bell and restoration;
  • Two archbishop panagias containing relics, as well as crosses and church utensils;
  • Church books and literature;
  • Icons;
  • The archbishop's bedroom was completely emptied, including clothing;
  • Food supplies, jam, and winter preserves.

As reported by the UOJ, a few hours after the first assault, the cathedral was seized. Believers were left without their sanctuary, and Metropolitan Theodosiy stated that they would now be compelled to pray in their homes and apartments while the legal battle for the return of the cathedral continues.
