Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythira and Antikythera of the Church of Greece has called on the Ukrainian authorities to stop persecuting the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
In a message marking the start of the Nativity Fast, Metropolitan Seraphim wrote that "our common desire is to achieve an end to the bloodshed and a truce" and "to bring peace to the warring nations of Russia and Ukraine."
He also stated that he prays for "an end to the cruel and relentless persecution of the Orthodox clergy, monastics, and other Christians of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the authorities of this country."
Earlier, it was reported that a hierarch of the Church of Greece had called for an extraordinary Synod on Ukraine.
