Believers consider the establishment of a joint Easter celebration with Catholics starting in 2025 to be "schismatic actions".

On November 23, 2024, believers in Athens, Greece, are holding a protest against the ecumenical actions of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, reports the Greek UOJ website.

According to the site, believers from Thessaloniki are traveling to Athens to participate in the protest against the ecumenical initiatives of the head of Phanar.

The protest is scheduled to take place at 16:00 near the building of the Metropolis of Peristeri "in connection with the announced visit of Patriarch Bartholomew there."

As stated in the announcement by the Coordination Committee, "believers want to express their dissatisfaction with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his ecumenical and schismatic actions, particularly the establishment of a joint Easter celebration with the papists starting in 2025."

Earlier, the UOJ reported that a hierarch of the Church of Greece called on the Ukrainian authorities to stop the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
