The UOC hierarch suggested that one of the goals of decimating the UOC is to create conditions for the further Catholicization of Ukraine.

Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol explained in an interview with the Georgian media outlet Point of View the lack of support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) from other religious organizations in Ukraine. He noted that the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, which includes representatives of various denominations such as the Roman Catholic Church, Protestants, Muslims, and Jews, supported a draft law aimed at banning the activities of the UOC.

"Unfortunately, our Church does not receive even moderately significant support within Ukraine, to put it mildly," said the Metropolitan. In his view, each religious organization is pursuing its own interests. "Some want to maintain good relations with the authorities, others are closely connected with external forces that lobbied for the creation of the OCU, and some simply aim to absorb the UOC," he added.

Metropolitan Luke also suggested that one of the goals is to create conditions for the further Catholicization of Ukraine.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Luke spoke about the joint strategy of the Phanar and the Vatican in Ukraine.
