American companies roll back their pro-LGBT policies, media reports
Brands are ceasing sponsorship of gay pride events and halting the production of LGBT-oriented products.
Following Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election, major US retail companies are scaling back their LGBT support programs, reports the Associated Press.
The outlet states that Walmart, the largest retail company in the US, is removing certain LGBT-related items from its website and shutting down a nonprofit organization that funded programs for sexual minorities.
"Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, is rolling back its diversity, equity and inclusion policies, joining a growing list of major corporations that have done the same after coming under attack by conservative activists," writes the Associated Press.
Other companies, including Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, Ford, and Molson Coors, are also discontinuing their LGBT support programs.
"These changes occurred shortly after the election victory of former President Donald Trump, who criticized DEI initiatives," the publication claims.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Trump plans to remove transgender individuals from the military.
