UGCC Synod talks with NSDC Secretary about cooperation with the state
The meeting also addressed the situation of Ukrainians abroad.
On December 11, 2024, members of the UGCC Synod met with Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in Kyiv, according to the press service of the organization.
Reportedly, the meeting was held as part of the presidential plan for Ukraine's internal resilience, which President Zelensky announced to foster cooperation between the state and churches.
The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, introduced the members of the Synod and emphasized that "all current activities of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the public and state spheres are aimed at strengthening state-church partnership to enhance the common good of our people and achieve victory in Russia’s war against Ukraine."
The meeting also discussed the situation of Ukrainians abroad and proposals for improving their living conditions.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the UGCC is set to receive a plot of over two hectares in the center of Lviv.
