GOC bishop: Persecution of the Church today is not a conspiracy but the truth
According to Metropolitan Nektarios, the presence of God, who is Truth, contradicts the interests of any earthly authority.
On December 15, 2024, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra addressed the topic of modern persecution of the Orthodox Church in his Sunday sermon.
"Persecution of the Church in our time is not a conspiracy theory but a proven truth," the hierarch emphasized.
He explained that this occurs because the presence of God, who is Truth, stands in opposition to the interests of any earthly power.
"This is why Christian Europe is under threat – not only of de-Christianization but also of becoming the center of a pan-religion," Metropolitan Nektarios stated.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra stressed that he recognizes only one canonical Church in Ukraine – the one led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
