The OCU claims that the discussion also touched on protection from "destructive Russian influence through religious institutions."

The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Epifaniy Dumenko, met with representatives of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to discuss “establishing spiritual support for Ukrainian refugees through the Chaplaincy Assistance Mission for OCU believers.” According to the OCU’s official website, the meeting took place on February 24, 2025, in Kyiv.

It is reported that Epifaniy Dumenko, together with the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security, and Defense, Pavel Fischer, and the chairman of the Standing Commission on Compatriots Abroad, Tomáš Czernin, also discussed interchurch relations and the process of strengthening the OCU.

“The discussion also covered the protection of the state in conditions where destructive Russian influence spreads through religious institutions, using freedom of religion as a cover, as well as other pressing topics,” the OCU press service stated.

Previously, the UOJ reported that the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Maliuk, claimed that the European Union had allegedly imposed certain sanctions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). According to Maliuk, Czechia is the initiator of the ‘work’ against the UOC.
