Another humanitarian shipment from Bukovyna delivered to Sviatohirsk Lavra

On March 20, 2025, around 8 tons of humanitarian aid from the faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) arrived at the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, according to the monastery’s official website.

The shipment included food supplies (such as apples, onions, and preserves), hygiene products, household chemicals, utility items, and washing machines for the needs of the monastery brethren, as well as feed for the Lavra’s poultry and cats.

The collection was organized with the blessing of Metropolitan Meletiy. In addition to residents of Chernivtsi and the region, Orthodox Christians from across Ukraine and even from Canada contributed to the Lenten charity effort by sending donations to volunteer bank accounts.

“We thank everyone who took part in this collection. Great Lent continues, and it is impossible to imagine it without acts of mercy. We believe that for your active love, the Lord will reward each of you a hundredfold,” said collection organizer Oksana Tsiuha.

The volunteer especially acknowledged the efforts of parish women from villages such as Molodiia and Korovia, who prepared nearly 3 tons of canned goods specifically for the monks of the Lavra and the refugees living there.

After visiting Holy Mountains, the Bukovynian volunteers headed to the city of Lyman to deliver food, hygiene items, and other essential supplies to the Holy Protection Convent, located near the front line.

“Monasteries located in frontline and near-frontline zones survive only thanks to humanitarian aid. Therefore, we ask everyone who can take part in this good work – do not stand aside!” said Oksana (Maria) Tsiuha.

The Bukovyna volunteers have already begun gathering aid for Sviatohirsk Lavra’s needs for the upcoming Easter.

Earlier, it was reported that the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy had delivered 3 tons of food to Sviatohirsk Lavra.
