St Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv damaged due to Russia's shelling
The cornice on the main apse of the church was damaged by the blast wave.
On the night of June 10, 2025, due to shelling by the RF, St. Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv was damaged, reported Minister of Culture Mykola Tochitskyi on Facebook.
According to him, a fragment of the cornice collapsed on the main apse of the cathedral. Judging by the photographs, the length of the damaged section is about 2 meters. No other damage to the ancient cathedral has been reported. All the windows near the damaged section remain intact.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that after the collapse of the cross on the All Saints Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Ministry of Culture reported that it happened due to vibrations from Russian shelling.
