UGCC urges faithful to be ready to lay down their lives for Ukraine
The UGCC hierarchs have published a letter to the faithful urging them to cleanse the country of Soviet methods of governance, military organization, and economic management.
The Synod of the UGCC addressed the faithful with a message on the occasion of the beginning of the Nativity Fast, the official website of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church reports.
The UGCC stated the need to purify society from apathy and from the inertia of Soviet models of governing the state, the army, and the economy.
The Synod called on Ukrainians to be prepared for any sacrifice, including giving their lives for Ukraine. “True victory for Ukraine will not come from the intervention of allies or diplomatic efforts. It will be born when each of us offers a personal sacrifice – of time, strength, abilities, comforts, and, if necessary, of life itself,” the letter reads.
“The struggle for Ukraine is a struggle for the future of the people, for its vocation to be an example to the world in resisting darkness,” the UGCC bishops emphasized.
As the UOJ reported, the head of the UGCC consecrated an icon of the Mother of God bearing the chevron of the “Brody” brigade.
