Parishioners and the brotherhood of the UOC Transfiguration Monastery in Kniazhychi succeeded in defending their sacred site from the attempts of security forces and raiders.

In the village of Kniazhychi, the brethren and faithful have defended the Transfiguration Monastery from seizure, UOC lawyer Archpriest Mykyta Chekman reported on Telegram, posting video footage from the scene.

According to the lawyer, a state registrar had planned today – in violation of the law – to bring in security forces and expropriate the monastery from Orthodox Christians.

He stressed that all actions taken by the officials were unlawful and illegitimate.

“According to the norms of current legislation, the ruling on the opening of enforcement proceedings was dated November 24, 2025. By law, the ‘debtor’ – that is, the religious community – has a period of 10 working days. In this case, that period expires only on December 9, 2025. Therefore, all actions carried out today were illegal,” Fr. Mykyta emphasized.

According to the lawyer, representatives of the religious community have already filed the necessary complaints and have contacted law enforcement regarding the criminal offenses committed by the officials.

The monastery’s brotherhood thanked all Orthodox Christians for their help and support and asked that they continue to remain with the monastery in prayer.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that there was a threat of seizure of the Transfiguration Monastery in Kniazhychi.
