The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church called for prayer for the military and for the repose of the fallen.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry addressed the Ukrainian soldiers with congratulations on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the UOC press service.

In his message, the Primate praised the courage of the defenders of the country and thanked them for their selfless service.

“At a time when Ukraine daily suffers from Russian armed aggression, we sincerely thank you – brave and self-sacrificing soldiers who defend our Homeland,” he said.

He emphasized that the clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have been offering daily prayers for the military and for peace in Ukraine since the very first days of the war. According to the Metropolitan, the priests serve alongside the soldiers, providing both spiritual and humanitarian assistance.

The Metropolitan also paid special attention to the memory of the fallen and expressed words of comfort to their families.

“Today especially we lift our prayers for those who gave what is most precious – their lives – for their neighbors and for Ukraine. We pray to the Lord for the salvation of their souls and their repose in the heavenly dwellings. We believe that the Loving Heavenly Father will grant them eternal life, and will give comfort and healing to the wounded hearts of their families,” the message reads.

His Beatitude also wished all Ukrainian defenders health, courage, and God’s blessing.

“Dear brothers and sisters, our esteemed defenders – men and women! Your selfless and sacrificial service is forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of our nation. May the Lord continue to bless all of you with health, courage, and valor,” Metropolitan Onuphry concluded.

As the UOJ reported earlier, His Beatitude had congratulated Metropolitan Arseniy on the 20th anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
