Met. Victor: One shouldn't place one's opinion above Church's conciliar mind
The Khmelnytskyi hierarch spoke about his attitude towards the conciliar decisions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the importance of ecclesiastical obedience.
During the podcast of the DNA channel, Metropolitan Victor of Khmelnytskyi and Starokostiantyniv commented on the status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The archbishop emphasized that his position fully aligns with the decisions of the UOC Council.
"I believe as the Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church believes. I was raised during my studies in the theological seminary, in the theological academy, that the conciliar decision of the Church is the decision that should be accepted by everyone in the Church», stated Bishop Viktor.
The Metropolitan noted that every person can have their own point of view, but it should not oppose the conciliar voice of the Church.
"Yes, we can have some other points of view, but if there is a conciliar decision of the Church, then I will not dare to publicly place my point of view above the conciliar decision of the Church. Personally, I. Perhaps someone will dare – I will not," emphasized the archbishop.
Bishop Victor called himself a "humble servant" of the Primate, the Synod, and the Council of the UOC and declared acceptance of the position approved at the pan-Orthodox level.
As a reference, he pointed to the decisions of the Council in Feofania and the words of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, spoken on the third anniversary of this Council.
"Yes, I can have some preferences, my own point of view, but I do not place it above the conciliar wisdom of the Church. I accept as the Church has said. This is my position," concluded Bishop Victor.
