A monastic tonsure, carried out in an atmosphere of shared prayer and repentance, became a special spiritual event for the Andrushivka Deanery.

On December 9, 2025, the monastic tonsure of the nun Sosipatra (Kondratiuk) took place in the Andrushivka Deanery of the Zhytomyr Eparchy. She was given the name Euthymia in honor of the memory of the miracle of the Holy Great Martyr Euthymia the All-Praised, the deanery’s press service reported.

The rite of tonsure was led by Archimandrite Galaktion (Korinchiuk), abbot of the Holy Transfiguration Tryhirsk Monastery, who offered prayerful guidance to the newly tonsured nun on her path of monastic service.

Before the tonsure, the deanery held a general confession for the clergy. The sacrament of repentance was administered by the spiritual father of the Andrushivka district, Archpriest Volodymyr Mudlo.

Following the confession, the clergy concelebrated the Divine Liturgy, led by Archimandrite Makarii (Havrylov), dean of the Andrushivka district.

During the service, clergy and laity offered special prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the defenders of the homeland – both the living and the fallen.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Pereyaslav, bulldozers had dug up monks’ graves near a monastery.
