Stefanchuk warns Vatican that Ukraine will not allow Russia to regroup

The Verkhovna Rada Speaker discussed with Pietro Parolin ways to end the war with Russia.

On December 12, 2025, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met in the Vatican with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Pietro Parolin, and discussed with him ways to achieve a just peace in the war with the Russian Federation. Stefanchuk wrote about this on Facebook.

According to him, he "informed Parolin about the current diplomatic consultations of Ukraine with the United States and European partners".

"I emphasized: our guideline remains unchanged – a just peace, not a temporary pause that would allow Russia to regroup," wrote the Speaker of Parliament wrote.

He reported that Ukraine does not intend to make any territorial concessions, direct or indirect recognition of temporarily occupied territories. According to him, "a ceasefire is possible only as part of a comprehensive solution, backed by reliable guarantees".

In turn, Parolin stated that "the Holy See hopes for the swift end of the tragedy that has lasted too long".

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Stefanchuk met with Pope Leo and invited him to Ukraine.
