Montenegrin Metropolitan Joanikije celebrates divine service in Kosovo
Metropolitan Joanikije celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the ancient see of the Serbian patriarchs at the Peć Monastery.
On December 14, 2025, Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral held a divine service at the Patriarchal Monastery of Peć, located in Kosovo.
In his homily, the metropolitan urged the faithful, despite problems and hardships, to remain grateful to God. He noted that in our time the Peć Monastery is visited by more believers than during periods of freedom and prosperity. According to the hierarch, this demonstrates that the people have not forgotten their roots, and have not forgotten Kosovo and Metohija.
“May God strengthen our Serbian people throughout the world, especially in Kosovo and Metohija – a people crucified, yet also a great people, a God-fearing people, always hopeful and always devoted to the goodness of God,” Metropolitan Joanikije said.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Joanikije called for prayers for the swift reconciliation of Ukraine and Russia.
