In Washington, Orthodox Christians gather in support of UOC
In the capital of the USA, representatives of various Orthodox churches and Christian communities organized the Orthodox Christian and Allies Day of Action.
On December 16, 2025, on Capitol Hill in Washington, a Day of Action for Orthodox Christians and their allies took place, reports the UOJ branch in the USA. The event gathered about 200 participants, including representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Antiochian Orthodox Church, the Orthodox Church in America, as well as laity and clergy from other Orthodox jurisdictions and Christian communities in the USA.
The concerned Christians held 80 meetings with members of Congress and their staff, in addition to canvassing every office in the House and Senate. The goal of the Day of Action for Orthodox Christians and their allies is to draw the attention of the American authorities to the issue of persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and to urge lawmakers to protect the rights of believers.
The event was organized by the Society of St. John of Shanghai and the New York Young Republican Club.
Participants came to the Capitol with posters saying "Free Metropolitan Arseny Immediately," "Greeks for UOC," "Repeal Law 3894 (aimed against UOC - Ed.)," "Stop the Imprisonment of Our Clergy."
At the end of the event, the organizers held a press conference on the steps of the Capitol.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that ROCOR called to inform "mighty of this world" about the UOC persecution.
