U.S. congresswoman calls to end support to countries persecuting Christians
According to Anna Paulina Luna, American taxpayers should not finance governments that violate the rights of believers.
On December 16, 2025, during a rally in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) held near the White House in the United States, U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna called on the government to stop funding countries where Christians are persecuted.
Anna Paulina Luna said it is necessary to draw attention to the persecution of Christians around the world, especially in countries that currently receive financial support from the U.S. government.
According to her, American taxpayers should not be sponsoring authorities that violate the rights of believers. “American tax dollars should never support a government that is actively persecuting our brothers and sisters in Christ,” the congresswoman emphasized.
At the same time, Anna Paulina Luna issued a warning, noting that such practices could have far-reaching consequences.
“If Christians can be persecuted by our Western allies and countries fully reliant on us for funding, there is nothing to stop that persecution from coming home,” the congresswoman said.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Orthodox Christians in Washington spoke out in support of the UOC.
