After being expelled from the Dormition Cathedral, the UOC community in Volodymyr has been crammed into a tiny chapel.

On December 18, 2025, in Volodymyr, Member of Parliament Ihor Huz announced plans to evict the community of the UOC Dormition Cathedral from the Volodymyr chapel, where parishioners have been praying since they were driven out of their home church. In fact, the small chapel can accommodate only the clergy, while parishioners stand outside.

According to Huz, he initiated appeals to the Prosecutor General’s Office and local authorities “so that the Moscow church would be evicted from this place of worship in the near future.”

He expressed hope that soon Ukrainian-language services would be heard in the chapel, which was built by Russian Emperor Alexander III.

“I hope that the process of freeing our state, Volhynia, and Volodymyr from this Moscow religious web will continue further,” Huz said.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Volodymyr, after the cathedral was sealed, its community has to pray outdoors.
