Cross procession in Bukovyna walks to Righteous Anna Convent
In the Chernivtsi Eparchy, the faithful took part in a cross procession to the Convent of the Holy Righteous Anna.
On December 20, 2025, a traditional cross procession was held in the Chernivtsi Eparchy, leading to the women’s Monastery of the Holy Righteous Anna in the town of Vashkivtsi, a UOJ correspondent reports.
The procession began at 7:00 a.m. from Chernivtsi. Praying along the way, the faithful covered a distance of 36 kilometers and arrived at the monastery at 6:30 p.m. Up to 500 pilgrims took part in the solemn prayerful procession.
Traditionally, the cross procession is held on the eve of the Feast of the Conception of the Most Holy Theotokos by Righteous Anna (December 9/22). This year, however, since the feast falls on a Monday, the faithful set out not on Sunday, but on Saturday.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Malyi Kuchuriv, a persecuted community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church marked its patronal feast.
