Cherkasy court accuses Metropolitan Theodosiy of incorrect sermon
At the court session on the case of Metropolitan Theodosiy, an expert tried to prove that there was no forcible seizure of the monastery in Cherkasy, and the crime was committed by the Cherkasy hierarch through an incorrect sermon.
On December 25, 2025, a regular session was held in the Prydniprovskyi District Court of Cherkasy regarding the case of Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv. This was reported by the press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy on the eparchy's FB page.
During the court session, “an expert from the Cherkasy branch of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise”, A. P. Stromilo, said that Metropolitan Theodosiy had violated the Criminal Code of Ukraine while delivering a sermon in support of the nuns of the Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. The hierarch voiced words of support shortly after the monastery was seized by OCU militants and the nuns were expelled from the monastery in 2023. The expert also stated that there had been no violent seizure of the monastery.
Bishop Theodosiy participated in the session online, as he is undergoing outpatient treatment.
The next court sessions with the participation of the same expert will take place on January 6, 12, and 20.
Let us recall that on November 20, 2023, people in military uniforms, in the presence of police and SBU officers, seized the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monastery in Cherkasy. During this, the raiders broke the jaws, legs, and arms of elderly parishioners and priests. As indicated by the eparchy, despite the fact that the names of the criminals are known, they are not only unpunished, but no criminal cases have even been opened against them.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy was discharged from the hospital after poisoning.
