Dumenko will serve with Patriarch Bartholomew at the Phanar.

On January 2, 2025, the Patriarchate of Constantinople announced that OCU head Serhiy Dumenko would take part in the Theophany celebrations in Istanbul, which under the new calendar are held on January 6.

According to a notice on the Patriarchate’s official website, Patriarch Bartholomew will preside over the festive Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral. The service will be concelebrated with Dumenko.

After the Doxology, Patriarch Bartholomew will perform the Great Blessing of Waters. Following the праздничное cathedral service, a ceremony for the blessing of the waters will take place at the Phanar pier.

Dumenko has regularly visited Constantinople since receiving the Tomos in 2019. Joint services with the Ecumenical Patriarch are intended to demonstrate the OCU’s connection with the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to a former OCU cleric, after the bloody clash in Cherkasy the Phanar was ready to revoke the Tomos.
