Bukovyna faithful bring Christmas humanitarian aid to Sviatohirsk Lavra
Ahead of Christmas, volunteers from Bukovyna delivered food and essential supplies for the brethren of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, the sisters of the skete, and refugees.
On January 1, 2026, the Sviatohirsk Lavra once again received a humanitarian shipment from the faithful of the Chernivtsi–Bukovyna Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the monastery’s press service.
The aid included food, clothing, and household supplies: about 30 crates of eggs, 50 kg of butter, cheese, mayonnaise, canned goods, tea, coffee, biscuits, as well as fruit. These supplies are intended for the Lavra’s brotherhood, the sisters of the skete in the village of Bohorodychne, and refugees living at the monastery.
The volunteers also brought Christmas trees and fresh flowers to decorate the churches for the feast of the Nativity of Christ.
Oksana (Maria in baptism) Tsiuha, who organized the delivery, said the aid was collected “to support the inhabitants of the frontline monastery, which survives thanks to humanitarian shipments.”
The humanitarian mission took place with the blessing of Metropolitan Meletii of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. Abbess Dymytriia of the Epiphany Monastery in Kremenets also assisted by providing a monastery vehicle.
The volunteers thanked donors from Ukraine and Europe – clergy and laity who purchased the supplies and covered transport costs. They plan the next trip after the Sviatky to deliver construction materials needed to restore buildings damaged by shelling.
As the UOJ reported, the previous humanitarian shipment from volunteers of the Chernivtsi–Bukovyna Eparchy was delivered on November 23, 2025.
