In Uganda, Islamists seriously wound Protestant pastor during a service
During the attack, the radicals accused the minister of an evangelical congregation of encouraging Muslim children to attend church.
On December 21, 2025, in eastern Uganda, a group of radical Islamists attacked a Protestant pastor while he was preparing for worship on church grounds and seriously wounded him. Morning Star News reports.
The victim was Pastor Joseph Kanuni, a minister of the Revival Center Protestant congregation in the town of Kaliro. According to him, the attack occurred at around 6:00 p.m., when he was alone in the church courtyard preparing for the night service.
As the pastor recounted, five Muslims armed with clubs and sharp objects suddenly attacked him, accusing him of “misleading their children” by encouraging them to attend a Christian church. He identified two of the attackers as individuals who had previously threatened him after public religious disputes.
Members of the congregation found the pastor badly wounded behind the church building – with deep cuts on his arm and back – and urgently took him to a medical facility. He was later transferred to a hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Police in eastern Uganda are searching for the five suspects, who remain at large. Local church leaders condemned the attack, stressing that what happened was yet another case of religiously motivated violence against Christians.
