U.S. military chaplains greet Orthodox believers on Christmas on January 7
American military chaplains have published a festive Christmas message to Orthodox Christians.
Chaplains of the U.S. Army published a festive message to Orthodox Christians for Christmas on January 7, 2026. This was reported by the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps.
In their greeting to believers celebrating Christmas according to the Julian calendar, the American military chaplains noted: "Today we celebrate Orthodox Christmas, a sacred day honoring the birth of Christ and the light He brings into the world."
They wished everyone to be strong in faith and to follow the ways of the Lord with courage and hope. "In the Orthodox tradition, this day invites us to embrace the joy of His coming and to walk in His ways with courage and faith. 'For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace' (Isaiah 9:6). May all be strengthened in faith and guided by God’s grace throughout the year ahead," the greeting says.
As earlier reported, in the U.S., for the first time, a black woman chaplain was promoted to colonel.
