Christmas procession visits UOC churches in Kamianske
A procession with revered shrines is taking place in the city, before which prayers are offered for peace and for the people of Kamianske.
On January 8, 2026, the second day of the feast of the Nativity of Christ, with the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kamianske and Tsarychanka, a Christmas procession began in Kamianske, visiting churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and offering prayers for the preservation of the city and its residents. This was reported by the eparchial press service.
The procession includes especially venerated shrines: the manger of the Lord Jesus Christ, the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Three Joys”, as well as particles of the relics of Great-martyr George the Victory-Bearer, Demetrius of Thessalonica, Great-martyrs Barbara and Catherine, and Martyr Marina.
On the first day of the procession, the shrines were brought to churches dedicated to: Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olha; Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr; the icon of the Mother of God “Look upon Humility”; the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God; Great-martyr George the Victory-Bearer; and also to the Transfiguration men’s monastic community.
In each church, the clergy and parishioners offered special prayers for the preservation of the city and its residents, for soldiers, for families, for those affected by the war, and for peace for Ukraine.
On January 9, the feast of the holy Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen, the shrines visited the church dedicated to Venerable Seraphim and the church dedicated to the Holy Twelve Apostles. Before the shrines, prayers again resounded for peace, for the well-being of Kamianske, and for God’s protection for all its residents.
As the UOJ wrote, the Kamianske Eparchy of the UOC marked the 15th anniversary since its founding.
