The Holy Transfiguration monastery will become a center of prayer and spiritual care in the region.

On January 15, 2026, Metropolitan Boholep of Oleksandriia and Svitlovodsk celebrated the first Divine Liturgy at the new men’s monastery of the UOC eparchy in the village of Talova Balka, Kirovohrad Region. This was reported by the eparchial press service.

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church adopted the decision to found the Transfiguration Monastery on December 16, 2025.

The hierarch led the Liturgy, during which prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, for soldiers and the faithful, and for the establishment of monastic life in the monastery.

During the service, Metropolitan Boholep elevated Archimandrite Seraphim (Krasnov) to the rank of hegumen and appointed him abbot (namisnyk) of the monastery.

The eparchy emphasized that the creation of the monastery is of great importance for the region’s spiritual life. The new monastery is intended to become a center of prayer, piety, and spiritual strengthening for believers. Metropolitan Boholep wished Hegumen Seraphim wisdom and patience in organizing monastic life, stressing the importance of obedience and labor for the good of the Church.

As the UOJ reported earlier, a rite of glorification of Blessed Ioann Pokhodenchyk was performed in Oleksandriia.
