Zinkevych: Jan. 7 Christmas will fade away with the death of UOC believers
The OCU compared UOC faithful to the Jews who wandered in the desert for 40 years and said they must die out.
OCU “Metropolitan” Mykhailo Zinkevych said that the observance of Christmas and other feasts according to the Julian calendar will disappear only after UOC believers die. He said this in an interview with Konkurent Volyn.
Asked when Ukraine will finally switch to the new calendar, Zinkevych stated: “When those who celebrated the old way die.” He drew an analogy with the biblical story in which Moses led the Jews through the desert for 40 years.
According to Zinkevych, UOC faithful “still remained in Egypt in their minds,” like those who “miss the Soviet Union.”
“They will die, and it will end. Their children may still continue the tradition of their parents, and that must pass – 40 years – then it will be purified. When will it end? In 40 years,” Zinkevych said.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Zinkevych, those who celebrate Christmas by the Julian calendar support the enemy.
