OCU rep: Church wedding is not needed
According to the OCU "priest," it is sufficient to register a marriage at the civil registry office; a church wedding is not needed.
A cleric of the Bila Tserkva Eparchy of the OCU Artemiy Fakhrutdinov stated that spouses are not required to have a church wedding, it is sufficient to go to the civil registry office.
“So is it mandatory or not to have a church wedding, spouses? It is not mandatory. You fell in love with each other, went to the civil registry office, got registered, in the eyes of the state and in the eyes of the church, in the eyes of God, you are husband and wife,” Fakhrutdinov assured. According to him, if people registered their marriage with state authorities, that is already sufficient.
“Don't want to have a church wedding – you don't need to. Love each other, don't cheat on each other, respect each other, go to work, bring your salary home on time so there is peace in the house. Well, and if you pray and seek salvation, then you will be extremely happy,” the OCU cleric said.
Whether he himself had a church wedding with his wife, Fakhrutdinov did not reveal.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to an OCU cleric, catching people for military recruitment is not a sin but a job.
