Lyceum associated with Orthodox school in Holosiiv risks losing its license
After an “investigation” into the school at the UOC Holosiiv Monastery, pressure has spread to a private lyceum that was connected to the Orthodox institution.
The State Service for Education Quality of Ukraine has initiated the termination of the license of the private Khotiavka Lyceum “Rancho School” in Kyiv Region, which – according to a journalistic investigation – allegedly provided “formal cover” for the education of children at the Orthodox school operating at the UOC monastery “Holosiivska Pustyn.” This was reported by Slidstvo.Info.
A corresponding request was sent by the Service to the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, according to a letter addressed to Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi.
An inspection of the lyceum was carried out from January 15 to January 21, 2026, on the basis of an appeal by the Educational Ombudsman following the publication of the outlet’s investigation. During the inspection, a number of violations were allegedly identified. It is reported that after the material was published, nine students were expelled from the lyceum, and a number of violations in the organization of the educational process were also found, including discrepancies in instructional hours with state requirements and the absence of certain subjects.
Separately, the State Service pointed to the involvement in the educational process of persons who do not have pedagogical education or the required qualifications. It also recorded the dismissal of some teachers in January 2026. Taken together, the identified violations led the Service to conclude that the lyceum’s educational activity should be terminated; the final decision on this matter is to be made by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
Earlier, Slidstvo.Info reported on the activities of the school at the UOC monastery “Holosiivska Pustyn,” which – according to the journalists’ version – in practice functioned as a full-fledged educational institution without a license, while the students’ documentation was оформлено through the licensed lyceum “Rancho School.”
After the publication of the investigation, inspections and investigative actions were launched against the Orthodox school, and then – against the lyceum as well, which, as follows from official statements, became the next object of pressure.
As the UOJ previously reported, the SBU and the prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case over the school at the UOC monastery.
