Ukraine’s ombudsman expresses concern over defending Constantinople Patriarchate
Lubinets said Russia’s accusations against Patriarch Bartholomew are unfounded.
Ukraine’s Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets decided to speak out in defense of the Constantinople Patriarchate and its primate against what he described as aggression from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.
On his Telegram channel, Lubinets wrote that the SVR publication and the statement by the Christian Interconfessional Consultative Committee, which spoke of persecution of the UOC, “demonstrate a common ideological orientation and contain unfounded accusations against Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Constantinople Patriarchate.”
“Their rhetoric is propagandistic in nature and is aimed at discrediting internationally recognized religious authorities who do not support the Kremlin’s policy,” Lubinets wrote.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Lubinets, claims of persecution of the UOC are “an outright lie.”
