UOC hierarch expresses condolences to families of miners killed in Ternivka
Metropolitan Ireney offered condolences to the victims and relatives of those killed as a result of a drone strike on a miners' bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Metropolitan Ireney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad expressed condolences in connection with the death of miners from "DTEK Pavlohraduhol" company as a result of a drone strike on a service bus. The tragedy occurred on February 1, 2026 in the town of Ternivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. This was reported by the press service of the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy.
"At a time like this, it is hard to find words that could ease human loss. But the Church, as a mother, stands beside everyone who mourns and prays together with those whose hearts are broken by grief. May the Lord grant rest to the souls of the deceased in His righteous dwellings, give them eternal peace, and preserve their memory brightly in the hearts of their loved ones."
The hierarch wished the wounded a speedy recovery, so that "the Merciful Lord would strengthen their forces, bless the doctors and grant healing."
To the relatives of the deceased and injured, Metropolitan Ireney offered words of comfort: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted" (Ps. 33:19), and may this closeness of God become living support for you."
The bishop called upon the clergy and faithful to pray for the repose of the innocently deceased and for the healing of the injured, as well as for effective help to those families who were suddenly orphaned by this misfortune.
"May our common pain not turn into indifference, but become a path to mutual support, compassion and preservation of humanity," the message states.
As the UOJ wrote, on December 23, 2025, the Khmelnytskyi hierarch expressed condolences to the family of a person killed in shelling.
